Delores Amelia Ewy, age 78 of Westbrook, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 22 at the Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday at church. Burial will be in the Westbrook Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Delores Amelia (Gustad) Ewy was born March 20, 1944 in Storden Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Haakon and Emma (Bartz) Gustad. She was baptized and confirmed at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. She graduated from Jeffers High School, and then moved out to California for a short time. While in California, she enrolled in nursing school. Delores then returned to the Westbrook area. On January 26, 1968, Delores married Donald Ewy at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church and they made their home in the Westbrook area. Delores worked various jobs over the years, mostly in healthcare as a nurse’s aide and Home Healthcare aide. She was a member of the Storden Saddle Tramps, Westbrook Ambulance, and Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, horseback riding, hunting, and camping. She also enjoyed a good game of cards, league bowling, and hosting New Year’s Eve gatherings at her home. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delores is survived by her children: Lonnie (Tiffanie) Ewy of Westbrook, Mike (Pam) Ewy of Madelia, Sherry (Roy) Maras of Wabasso, Stephanie Ewy (Chad Hummel) of Westbrook; stepsons: Rick (Brenda) Ewy of St. Paul Park and Terry Ewy of Storden; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; siblings: Dale Gustad of Lamberton and Donna Marie Swenson of Jeffers. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and brother Dennis Gustad.
