"Dougie" and I were the best of friends growing up as we lived only a block apart. Also, Doug's parents Sally and Sy instigated a blind date for my parents, Eddie and Theresa. Needless to say, our families were close. Highlights of our youth were eating hamburgers and french fries at the "Eatshop", spending time at Nic and Maud's cabin at the lake, and tandem diving at the swimming pool in summer water shows.
