Janos Cselovszki, age 85, of Redwood Falls, formerly of Hungary, passed away of natural causes unexpectedly Monday, September 14, 2026 at his home. A Visitation will be held 3:00 – 4:00 pm Friday, September 18, 2026 at Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, MN. A private family service will follow the visitation. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Janos Cselovszki passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, deep family devotion, and incredible craftsmanship. Born on January 7, 1941, in Vanyarc, Hungary, Janos was one of seven children. He completed grade school in Vanyarc before attending trade school to become a bricklayer – a craft he mastered as he worked his way up to construction foreman. A tireless provider, he spent countless weekends building homes and working with his hands to ensure his family always had the best life possible. In his youth, he was also an accomplished soccer player for his local club.

On April 3, 1965, Janos married the love of his life, Maria Kukucska, in Vanyarc. Seeking greater opportunities, they moved to Budapest in 1971, where their hard work enabled them to build a home of their own and raise their son, Janos (John) Jr.

In 1990, Janos and Maria made the courageous move to the United States to follow their son, settling over the years in Watertown, SD, as well as Brooklyn Center and Okabena, MN. Janos worked dutifully in meat processing plants and at Walmart until his well-earned retirement. He and Maria returned to Hungary in 2007 to enjoy their golden years before ultimately moving back to Minnesota in 2022 to be near their family.

Janos is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Maria; his son John (Becky); three granddaughters: Cassie (Alex), Tia (Brandon), and McKenzie (Austin); and six great-grandchildren: Camryn, Bryer, Zoey, Denver, Emmett, and Colter.
