Jerald “Jerry” Fred Steinkamp age 81 of Renville passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at his home under the care of hospice, while surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Middle Creek United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at church on Thursday. Interment is in the Middle Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or donor’s choice. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 Jerry was born April 25, 1943 in Redwood Falls, MN to Roland and Violet (Kurtz) Steinkamp. He was baptized and confirmed at the Middle Creek Church. Jerry attended country school before graduating from Renville Public School in 1961. He enjoyed riding horses and participated in the high school rodeo. After high school, he then attended South Dakota State University. On December 17, 1966, Jerry was united in marriage to Sandy Eisinger.  Jerry served in the Olivia unit of the National Guard from 1966 until 1972. He farmed south of Renville for many years, raising corn and soybeans. He also commercially raised turkeys and had a cow-calf operation along with being a Dekalb seed salesman. Jerry was a lifetime member of Middle Creek United Methodist Church where he served on many different committees. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He canned a lot of what he produced. Jerry loved woodworking and spending time at the lake.

Jerry is survived by his wife Sandy of 58 years; brother Roger (Lucie) Steinkamp; and sister-in-law Sue Wagemaker. He is preceded in death by his parents Roland & Violet Steinkamp, sisters: Sharon McClelland and Beverly Steinkamp, and brothers-in-law: Robert McClelland and Jack Wagemaker.
