James Irving Dibble, age 89, of Westbrook passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026 in the comfort of his home. Celebration of Life will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2 at the Westbrook Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery. James Irving Dibble was born February 19, 1937, in Tracy, Minnesota, to Floyd and Stella (Anderson) Dibble. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray and graduated from Westbrook High School. Jim married Karen Knudson on August 19, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage. Jim made his living farming and, for 17 years, he and Karen also owned and operated the Shady Drive-Inn each summer. Jim was a sports enthusiast throughout his life and enjoyed following his favorite teams, especially the Minnesota Twins – he was a season ticket holder for many years. Jim was also deeply committed to his community. He was active in the Westbrook Kiwanis, Volunteer Fire Department, and Westbrook Ambulance. He served on numerous boards, including the Westbrook School Board, Westbrook Hospital Board, Westbrook Mutual Insurance Board, Golf Course Board, and Westbrook Cemetery Board. He was always willing to lend a hand and took pride in being involved in the community. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed golfing, traveling, and working on construction projects. He was never one to sit still and was always ready to take on a project or help a neighbor. His good-natured sense of humor and love of practical jokes brought plenty of laughter to those around him. Above all, Jim cherished the time he spent with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his children: Todd, Donn (Ruth Ann), Jann (Randall) Comnick and Lynn (Rick) Elzenga, all of Westbrook; grandchildren: Brandon (Mandy) Dibble, Jordan (Heather) Dibble, Weston Dibble, Stephanie (Joe) Doubler, Mason (Megan) Comnick, Dayna (Sam) Carlson, Taylor (Mark) Struble, and Tyson Elzenga; great-grandchildren: Claire, Tucker, Ty, Lexi, Luke, Charli, Ben, Sophia, Leo, Graham, Cooper, Lainey, Walker and Casey; brother Warren (Elizabeth) Dibble; special friend Carol; and many other friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Stella, wife Karen, and sister Doralyn Dibble.
