Lamont Eugene Butcher, age 67 of New Ulm, MN, formerly of Morgan, passed away from cancer on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Divine Providence in Sleepy Eye. Burial will be held at a later date in St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Morgan, MN. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lamont Eugene Butcher was born to Eugene and Jeanette (Friedrich) Butcher on April 22, 1958 in Fergus Falls, MN. He was baptized in 1958 and confirmed in May 1973 both at St. John Lutheran Church in Morgan. Lamont attended Morgan Elementary School and graduated from Morgan High School. He held several jobs over the years. Lamont followed in his dad’s footsteps and did over the road truck hauling several years until he wanted to be home. He then worked for Minnesota Valley Testing Laboratories, Inc. in New Ulm for ten years. After retiring, Lamont worked at Smiley’s Tavern in New Ulm doing their early morning janitorial services. He often did small engine repair. Lamont was always there to help out his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed bow-hunting with friends, mushroom picking/hunting, fishing and, most of all, his Harley-Davidson motorcycles – especially Ester which he re-built. Lamont often did long rides with several friends on those perfect ‘ride’ days.

Lamont is survived by his sister Audrey (Robert) Menz of Acworth, GA; brothers: Clair (Lisa) of Willmar & Myles (Mary Kay) of Brownton; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Jeanette, sister Paula (in 1967), grandparents and several aunts and uncles
