Lurene M. Kotek, age 68 of Wood Lake, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center. Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Due to the current Covid -19 restrictions, the service will be BY FAMILY INVITE ONLY. GUESTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK and practice social distancing guidelines. A 50% indoor occupancy restriction will be maintained. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lurene Marie Kotek was born February 28, 1952 in Faribault, Minnesota to James and Dona (McCollum) Studer. She was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault. Lurene graduated from Faribault Senior High School and took general classes at Faribault Technical College. She was united in marriage to Gary Kotek on December 8, 1970 in Brookings, South Dakota. Lurene farmed in Shieldsville Minnesota till 1980. She then bought a trucking business in southwest Minnesota. Lurene ended up spending the next 40 years being the CEO of her trucking business. She was known for being a very generous person. Lurene donated and gave back to many charities. She enjoyed spending time with her animals which included her horse, her dog, and watching birds. Lurene especially enjoyed spending time wither her grandchildren and family.

Lurene is survived by her husband of 49 years Gary; children: Kory (Nicolle) Kotek of Woodlake, Gari Jo Jordan of Eagle Lake, Andrew (Kelly) Kotek of Wood Lake; step-daughter Brenda (Chris) Bednar of Owatonna; grandchildren: Tanner, Hannah, Quinn, Jacob, Carli, Mackenzie, Hadley, Kolt, Frankey, Julian, Mattise, and Chloe; great grandson Laine; her mother Dona Lee Luedtke of Viroqua, WI; brother Brian (Jane) Studer; and sister Elaine Studer-Viergutz. She is preceded in death by her father James and sister Marlys.
