Mavis P. (Beerman) Duggen was born September 29, 1933 to Reinhard and Emma (Mischke) Beerman in Heron Lake, Minnesota. She graduated from the Brewster High School in 1951. In her high school years, Mavis participated in the Drum and Bugle Corp. On March 9, 1954, Mavis was united in marriage to Bill Duggen. The couple farmed south of Westbrook. In 1969, Mavis and Bill moved into Westbrook. Mavis worked 32 years at the Westbrook Schmidt Memorial Hospital and six years at the Westbrook Clinic as a nurse’s assistant. Mavis enjoyed crafting, crocheting numerous afghans, quilting and counted cross stitching. Together Mavis and Bill travelled to craft vendor shows with homemade craft items.
