Merly, there will only be one of you. RIP. So many memories of you back in the good Ol days. The only thing faster than your fast ball, was your quick wit and ability to assign NICK NAMES . Mine of course was unique and I can’t say I’ve heard another one quite like it. Ronnie Johnson

Condolences to the family from Debi and I. What a great guy Merle was! I was lucky enough to play baseball with him in Tracy. Tracy won the league that year and the team stopped at Arco for supper after beating Ivanhoe. "Ring of Fire" was on the juke box often and Merle was singing! I also worked a couple summers with him shelling corn. We would talk baseball and the like. He taught me A LOT about baseball and helped me in becoming a better pitcher. Oh, he gave me a nickname as well... 🙂 He will be missed!
