Michael Lee Mohr was born to Werner and Berniece (Bellack) Mohr on August 25, 1973 in Aberdeen, SD. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hosmer, SD. Mike attended Hosmer Elementary and High School, and graduated in 1991. He continued his schooling at Mitchell VoTech, and graduated early with a 4.0 GPA to start his new career. Mike fell in love with Michelle Lee Preszler and the two were married September 3, 1994 at Hosmer Reformed Church. The two started their life together in Aberdeen, SD, where Mike worked at Northern State University as a Video Production Specialist and later worked for Valley Telco. Mike and his family moved to Ipswich, SD, then back to Hosmer for a few years before relocating to Redwood Falls, MN in 2003. Mike took a job at New Ulm Telecom (now known as Nuvera) until 2012, when he started working at Scott Preusse car dealership until 2019. Mike then worked for Schult Homes in the roofing department, and eventually became the department manager. Mike served his community as a volunteer fireman in Ipswich, Hosmer, and Redwood Falls for a total of 28 years, retiring in 2023. He also trained and educated many firemen in his role as Fire Instructor. Mike was a member of the Redwood County Fairboard, and was a member of the Sportsmen’s Clubs at Hosmer and Ipswich. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a good cold beer. Mike loved being the center of attention – he could talk to anyone, loved singing, telling jokes, and was always the life of the party.  He was a diehard Vikings fan and loved sports. Mike’s claim to fame was receiving his online certification of ordination. He was honored when he was asked to perform weddings of his nieces and some close friends. His proudest moments involved his children. He was their biggest fan and supported them at all of their sports and activities.
