Robert Charles Schroeder was born July 7, 1927 in Morgan and lived his entire life there. He was the son of Henry Schroeder and Freda (Schramm) Schroeder. At the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After basic training, he was assigned to the Seabees and was stationed on Guam as an Electrician’s Mate 3C. Once he returned home, Bob worked at various jobs before working with his father and brother Eugene doing electrical work. After becoming licensed himself, he started his own business and ran “Bob’s Electric Service” until his retirement in about 1993. Bob married Helen Wojahn on August 18, 1951 in New Richland and they purchased their home in Morgan. Bob was a life member of Morgan’s VFW Post 5771 and the DAV. He enjoyed tinkering in his shop and keeping things in good running order. He enjoyed gardening and fishing trips to Canada. Bob and Helen wintered for many years in Apache Junction, AZ where he enjoyed visiting and playing pool. While there they loved attending the annual Morgan Picnic where they reminisced about the “good old days” in Morgan. Bob was also a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Morgan. He was baptized and confirmed there and served on the church council in 1960 when the new church was built.

Bob is survived by his wife of 72 years Helen; daughters: Barb (Steve) Reinhart of Lafayette, Karen (Tom) Borth of Fairfax & Sue (Bob) Gewerth of Morgan; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister Jeanette Lieske of Chaska; sister-in-law Sharon Schroeder; and brother Hank (Erna) Schroeder of Rochester. He is preceded in death by his parents, stillborn daughter Peggy in 1966, brothers: Gordon, Derald (Dolly) & Eugene, half-sisters: Jule Weyker & Joyce Krause, and brother-in-law Rueben Lieske.
