Rose Elizabeth Nelson, age 90 of Revere, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at Walnut Grove Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at Lamberton Cemetery. Private family services will be held with a broadcast via Facebook Live on the Stephens Funeral Service Facebook Page at 2:00 p.m. Monday. Stephens Funeral Service – Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Rose Elizabeth Nelson was born August 25, 1930 to Charles and Erma (Cawkins) Wilbur in Revere, Minnesota. She attended school in Revere and Lamberton, graduating from Lamberton High School in 1948. Rose was united in marriage to Arden Nelson on June 12, 1948 in her parent’s home. She worked alongside her husband farming for many years. She also worked as head cook at the Revere nursing home for 22 years, before her retirement. Rose spent her spare time attending auctions, decorating her home, and collecting candles. She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors, most notably her long-time friend, Ollie parker, who shared many cups of coffee with her. Rose loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After a short illness, Rose moved to Valley View Manor on December 12, 2012.
Rose is survived by her three children: Carol (Ken) Nordsiden of St. Cloud, Allan (Shelley) of Walnut Grove and Wayne of Revere; five grandchildren: Kevin Nordsiden of Marshall, Michelle (Scott) Ahrens of Big Lake, Heather (Dusty) Peterson of Watertown, SD, Travis (Anne) Nelson of Lamberton, and Traci (Mike) Smith of Atwater; seventeen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arden on December 26, 1997, and her infant son.
