Roselyn Rae Johnson, age 85, of Milroy, passed away November 16, 2025, surrounded by family, at Hospice of Murray County in Slayton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Milroy. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 9 at Tracy Area Funeral Home in Tracy. Interment will be in the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery rural Milroy. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Roselyn Rae Johnson was born in Grand Forks, ND on May 8, 1940 to Ray and Rose Dudgeon. She was the sixth of nine children. Rosie grew up above the meat locker in Lucan that her parents owned and operated. After attending school through the 8th grade at Our Lady of Victory, she attended Milroy High School and met her future husband, Jerry Johnson. They were married the week after Rosie’s graduation. Although she would have loved a fall wedding, her parents said that she and Jerry would have to share their wedding day with her older sister, Joleen. So, on June 7, 1958, Rosie and Jerry were married and moved into an apartment in Lucan. A year later they welcomed their oldest son, Chad. Three years later, their second son Steve was born on the Johnson farm. After Jerry had a new house built on the farm, their youngest son, Dale (Babes), joined the family. Rosie kept very busy with football games, go-karts and church activities as the boys grew, as well as the farm and garden chores. For many years, Rosie visited her mother in Lucan to set her hair. She was an excellent cook and baker. Rosie enjoyed playing cards, reading, watching television and talking with friends on a daily basis. Both Jerry and Rosie were actively involved at St. Michael Catholic Church in Milroy. Rosie was involved in many different groups throughout her life. One was a Schoenstatt group for women that emphasized prayer and spiritual renewal, another being a sewing club, which included sewing and social time. As they aged, Rosie and Jerry cared for their mothers near the ends of their lives and also spent many hours enjoying time with their four grandchildren. Unfortunately, in 2020, Rosie fell and ended up at Prairie View Senior Living. As much as she would have loved to return to the farm, she just did not have the strength to move back. On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, Rosie became very ill and was moved to the hospital. Decisions were made to move her to the beautiful Hospice of Murray County.

Rosie is survived by her husband Jerry; children: Chad, Steve (Wendy) & Dale (Ginger); grandchildren: Cole and Ashley & Alex and Nick; siblings: Betty Brau, Jack, Dale & Vance Dudgeon; siblings-in-law: David (Theresa) Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Ed & Cliff Dudgeon, Joleen Fujan and Leeann Schmidt, and granddaughter Kari Johnson.
