Ruby May Meier, age 86 of Vesta, passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at Olivia Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 10 at St. John Lutheran Church in Vesta. The service will be broadcasted on the Stephens Funeral Service Facebook Page. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at church on Monday. Interment will be in the Vesta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to a charity of your choice. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, GUESTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK and practice social distancing guidelines. A 50% indoor occupancy restriction will be maintained. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ruby May Kletscher was born November 24, 1933 to Ben and Gertrude (Zimmer) Kletscher at home in Redwood County near Vesta, Minnesota. On July 1, 1951, Ruby married Orlen Meier at St. John Lutheran Church in Vesta. The couple settled on the family farm near Vesta, where they raised three children, Deborah, Bruce and Kim. Ruby and Orlen moved to a farm by Redwood Falls in 1983. They later moved into Redwood Falls in 1992 and at last settled in Willmar. Ruby’s faith was very important to her and anywhere she lived, she was very involved with her church.
Ruby is survived by her children: Deborah Arnold of Wyoming, MN, Bruce (Doris) Meier of Redwood Falls, and Kim (Curt) DeGrote of Willmar; 9 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; sisters: Malinda Stage of Redwood Falls, Virginia (Stanley) Benson of Stillwater, OK, and Gladys (Steven) Geertz of Keni, AK; sisters-in-law: Vera Style of Ivanhoe and Janet Kletscher of Brainerd; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Ben & Gertrude, husband Orlen, brothers Wayne & Dennis, sons-in-law Wayne Arnold & James Steffl, and brother-in-law Alvin Stage.
