Jo Ellen and Lee and families, So sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. My parents were Walt and Virginia Raduenz, and my Mother was Miles' cousin. We also lived in Vesta and spent a lot of time with both of our Great Aunts, one of whom was your grandmother, and also Miles and Shirley. We loved going out to the farm. Shirley and Miles were both favorites of our family. My siblings and I have visited with Shirley in later years, at various times, usually at the Vesta Cafe. Lee, you and Val joined us there on one occasion, when I was back for my 50th Class Reunion from Redwood Falls. It meant a lot to us to keep that connection with Shirley and with Vesta. Please know that your families are in our thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Sherry Nichols

I had the privilege of meeting Shirley quite a few years ago as about a dozen ladies from the area attended the national Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society convention in Milwaukee. She and I bonded right away with our special education backgrounds in teaching. The whole weekend was one mishap after another but it made for a memorable time, hilarious too. Shirley sure made it fun! What a wonderful Christian woman! I am blessed to have known her in some small way. My sympathy to you all.

Dear Jo Ellen and Lee, I was so sorry to hear of your mom's sudden passing. My grandma (Lydia) and uncle (Leonard) owned the farm right next to your family's farm. My mom Alice and your dad were cousins. Your mom and dad were always so kind. I have fond memories of coming over to your family's farm and playing with you when I was a little girl. Sending love to you both, Kim (Sonnee) Cochran
