Shirley Ruth (Hall) Alf was born November 30, 1935 in Paddock Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota to Elmer and Sarah (Zepper) Hall. She graduated from Tracy High School in 1954. At age 14, Shirley started working in the kitchen at the Friendly Inn. On November 14, 1958, Shirley married John “Jack” Alf. While her children were young, Shirley ran an in-home daycare for a few years before she started working as a nurse’s aide at the Tracy Nursing Home and later Prairie View Senior Living. She provided loving care for the residents for over 30 years before her retirement. Shirley and Jack also loved caring for their grandson, Will, any chance they could. Shirley loved watching him grow to become the young man he is today. She enjoyed filling her time by gardening, reading, walking, and especially loved visiting with family and friends.

Shirley is survived by her sons: Steve (Jan) Alf of Spring, TX and Jeff (Lori) Alf of Tracy; grandson William Alf of Tracy; siblings: Earl (Bernice) Hall of Hutchinson, MN and Joyce (Rex) Roberts of East Bethel, MN; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband John “Jack”.
