Theresa Veronica (Houdek) Zins, age 97 of Redwood Falls, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 13, 2025 at River Valley Health & Rehabilitation in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Redwood Falls and will be livestreamed on the church’s YouTube page. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Theresa Veronica (Houdek) Zins was born July 24, 1927 on the family farm in Henryville Township, Renville County to Lorence and Agnes (Krell) Houdek. She received the sacraments at St. Mary Catholic Church in Beckyn and attended country school in Henryville Township. Theresa married William A. Zins on September 23, 1946. They welcomed three children to complete their family. Theresa’s work outside the home centered on baking, cooking and caring for others. As a house supervisor for the disabled, her compassion and kindness toward people with special needs was noticed by others. She received several community awards and was nominated by her co-workers as a superstar. Theresa was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, drove for Meals on Wheels and was a Senior Center volunteer. An active member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, she was on the funeral committee and quilting club. She was known for her cooking and baking – especially her apple pies. Theresa loved spending time with her family.

Theresa is survived by her children: William (Karen) of Frisco, TX, Monica (Ron) Maurer of Windom & Domitilla (Michael) Anderson of Springfield; grandchildren: Andrea (Cody) Parde, Allison (Jon) Lee, & Amanda (Greg) Heimes, Matthew (Brandon) Wohlman, Nathan (Rose) Wohlman, Sara (Travis) Veigel, Krista (Greg) Schultz & Ryan Maurer; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Kenneth (Marilyn) Houdek of San Antonio, TX; and many other relatives & friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband William A. Zins, and 8 siblings: Lucy Goblish, George Houdek, Mary Tersteeg, Lillian Smith, Anna Kodet, Frances Ryerson, Lawrence Houdek and William Houdek.
