Albert F. Pabst, age 88, of Sanborn passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Springfield Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn.
Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30 AT THE CHURCH and will continue one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Interment is in the Sanborn Cemetery. Albert F. Pabst was born December 20, 1922 to Fredrick and Katherine (Meins) Pabst in Germantown Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. He attended country school through the 8th grade. On May 28, 1943 Albert was united in marriage to Esther Housman at the Lutheran parsonage in Marshall, Minnesota. Albert joined the US Marines in 1944 and received a medical discharge that same year. He and Esther spent the first years of their marriage farming and husked corn by hand. Albert was named the National Corn Husking Champion. Together the couple farmed for over 60 years, and Albert earned the Outstanding Conservationist of Cottonwood County award for two years. After retirement, Albert started Pabst Tree Moving Service. He was a member of the Sanborn Farmers Elevator Board, and Sanborn Community Development Corporation. Albert was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Albert is survived by his wife Esther of nearly 68 years; children: Miles (Sharon) Pabst of Norman, OK, Brian Pabst, Roxanna (Edward) Cohrs, Ralph (Karen) Pabst, all of Sanborn, and Pauline (Shawn) Wohnoutka of Morgan, MN; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters: Lorraine (Albert) Polzin, Alma Bredvold, Emily Brown, Gertrude Wall, and Ruth (Vernon) Kronback; sister-in-law Esther Pabst; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl, Emil, and John, sisters Marie and Hilda, and daughters-in-law Sandra Pabst and Cheryl Pabst.
