Geneva Rasmussen
Geneva Rasmussen age 91 of Tyler passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the Sunrise Manor in Tyler.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 23 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Tyler Area Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Interment will be held at a later date in the Arco Cemetery. The Tyler Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Geneva was born April 27, 1918 in Roseau, MN to Emil & Anna (Hansen) Christensen. She was raised by Andrew and Lena Johnson on a farm near Arco. Geneva was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, and graduated from Arco High School. On September 7, 1937, Geneva was united in marriage to Joseph Halling. Her primary job was housewife and mother until she started working at various area restaurants. On October 28, 1961, Geneva married Glen Rasmussen in Lime Springs, IA. Glen and Geneva moved to Las Vegas in 1963. She continued to work in the food service business until she retired to the Tyler area in 1994. Geneva was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco where she served on the ladies aid. She also belonged to the Federated Women’s Club of Lincoln County and the Arco Homemakers. Geneva enjoyed flowers, cooking and baking. She was a great cook! She also enjoyed bird watching, reading, and watching TV, especially the Food Network.
Geneva is survived by her children: Glenda (Ned) Juneau of Haughton, LA, Sonja Lund (Charlie Swenson) of Lake Benton, & Ruth Ann (Ken) Hopkin of Idaho Falls, ID; stepchildren: Virgil (Marion) Rasmussen, Janelle (Neal) Tusler, Chris (Sharon) Rasmussen, Connie (Don) Lundholm & Roger Rasmussen; 7 grandchildren and 15 step grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous step great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; brother Harley (Emily) Johnson of Rochester, MN; sister Joan (Alfred) Lundberg of Hastings; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Irving, two sisters, a granddaughter, a great grandson, a step grandson, and a step granddaughter.
