Valerie Ann Schmitt age 53 of Echo passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at St. Cloud Hospital after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Valerie Ann Schmitt was born August 17, 1959 in St. Paul to Marlene Ferguson.  She graduated from Granite Falls High School.  Valerie enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Valerie is survived by her significant other Larry Mock of Echo; children: Cassie Schmitt of Arlington, LJ Schmitt of Marshall, and Kristine Mock of Echo; grandchildren: Samara Munsterman, Vanessa Schmitt, and Hayden Schmitt; mother Marlene Ferguson of St. Paul; and sisters Cheryl Ferguson and Jeanne Ferguson, both of St. Paul.  She is preceded in death by her grandparents.
