Shirley L. Smith age 68 of Redwood Falls, formerly of Litchfield, passed away on Friday, April 6, 2012 at Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.  Interment is in the Redwood Falls Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Shirley was born December 2, 1943 in Litchfield, MN to Edwin & Esther (Desens) Rick.  She was baptized December 19, 1943 and confirmed April 14, 1957.  Shirley graduated from Litchfield High School.  On July 28, 1962, Shirley was united in marriage to James W. Smith at the Lutheran Church in Litchfield.  Together the couple moved to Redwood Falls in 1962 where they owned and operated Redwood Concrete Products for 35 years.  Shirley raised three daughters and several family pets.  She had strong family values, and enjoyed many family gatherings over the years.  Shirley was well traveled as she spent many winters at their vacation home in Florida which she enjoyed every minute.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Redwood Falls, the Red Hatters Club, the Audacia Study Club and was a Lioness.  She also belonged to the Golf Club in her younger years.  Shirley enjoyed oil painting, sewing and crocheting, and traveling.  She also enjoyed gardening, canning and freezing what she grew.

Shirley is survived by her daughters: Suzie (Ron) Brusoe of Oakdale, Pam (Gary) Iverson of Redwood Falls, and Barb (Chris) Miest of Mankato; grandchildren: Christy Brusoe, Amy Brusoe, Jamis Iverson, Briana Rohlik, Zach Iverson, Sawyer Miest and Danica Miest; her first great grandchild due in May 2012 to Ryan & Briana Rohlik; sisters: Anna Mae (Marlow) Wigen of Litchfield, Darlene (Karl) Lundin of Litchfield, Brenda Rick of Litchfield, Marion Rick of Hutchinson, & Betty LaPlante-Rick of Litchfield; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, brothers Joel, Myron & Wayne, brother in law Tom and sisters in law June and Ardyth.
