Wanita “Toots” Stoufer

Wanita “Toots” Stoufer, age 72, of Belview passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Olivia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Belview.

Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the church and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.  Interment is in Belview Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Wanita “Toots” Stoufer was born March 30, 1939 in Redwood Falls.  Her parents were Harry and Vera (Holmes) Abrahamson.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Toots attended Belview High School.  On March 16, 1958 she was united in marriage to Larry Stoufer at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Belview.  Together the couple lived in Belview.  Toots took over operating the Rainbow Café in 1978 when her mother passed away.  In the fall of 1982 she began working as a cook at the Belview School District until 2001.  She then worked at Parkview as a cook and in housekeeping.  Toots also worked as a bookkeeper for Larry’s business.  She retired due to her health in 2006.  Toots later entered Parkview Home in Belview.  She was a long-time, active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.  Toots enjoyed cooking, watching the Vikings, playing cards and Solitaire, and visiting family and friends.  She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren, and her German Shepherd, Poodle, and Papillon dogs.

Toots is survived by her children: Kristy (Tom) Wolner of Granite Falls, Kelly (special friend Curt) Pederson of Belview, Glenn (Pam) Stoufer of Belview, Robin Stoufer of Hutchinson, and Jessie Stoufer of Belview; grandchildren: John, Joshua, and Traci Wolner, Casey and Lucas Pederson, Nichole Hultquist and Anthony Stoufer, Danyel Stoufer and Tanner Lentz; great grandchildren James Stoufer and Jack Hultquist.  She is also survived by her brother Bob Abrahamson of Morton; brothers-in-law Roger (Beverly) Stoufer and George Robertson; sister-in-law Susan Jones; and a special friend Jeremy Gilland; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Larry.
