Wayne Schiller was born December 11, 1937 on the family farm in Paxton Township, Redwood County, to Otto & Elsie (Jensen) Schiller. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Wayne graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1955 where he was a three sport athlete. In wrestling, they called him “The Bear.” He also played football and baseball. On May 19, 1957, Wayne was united in marriage to Ramona Wolf at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Springfield. Together the couple lived and farmed in Redwood County and settled in Paxton Township in 1965. It’s there that they raised six children while Wayne farmed with his father. After his father’s passing, Wayne farmed on his own until his son, Jeff, joined the operation.  Wayne and Jeff worked side by side until Wayne passed away.  Wayne was passionate for farming and enjoyed tractor pulls, where he won numerous trophies. He was a kind hearted, gentle, generous and hard-working man. He will be remembered for his great smile and hearty laughs. Wayne was a very active member of his church. He also enjoyed golfing and hunting. Wayne & Ramona kept a busy schedule for years attending their kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s school & athletic events. Recently, they were guests of honor at a celebration combining their 80th birthdays & 60th wedding anniversary.

Schiller family- deep condolences to all of you- Monica and I have had several conversations about Wayne over the past week. We would end the talk with a smile on our face, not as big as Wayne’s, but close. It was always a treat to see Wayne and Romano at a sporting event, family celebration or where ever or what ever the event was. It was always a easy talk to have with him, nothing real serious but a very pleasant one for sure. We will always remember him as being calm and peaceful in every way.. He wasn”t in a hurry but at the end of the day he would accomplish his goals for that day. He will be missed by family, friends, and the Redwood Falls community.

Dear Ramona, Jeff, Randy, Chad, Kristi, Kim, Kelly…
My heart is saddened with the news of Wayne’s passing. He was many things to our family. A great friend to Dad throughout his life, a man who farmed with pride and shepherded his family like none other. A strong yet always approachable figure in our church congregation; a deliberate, generous, and kind soul, all the time. And that signature laugh that was ALL his… makes me smile just thinking about it. He will be sincerely missed by the Petersen family.

Dear Schiller family, I was sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. He was always a passionate supporter of all the kids involved in athletics. I especially remember his keen interest in the wrestling team and how he and Ramona traveled to away meets on a bus with other parents of wrestlers.
