Leona “Suse” ZimmermannLeona “Suse” Zimmermann, age 80, of Belview, MN passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Parkview Home in Belview.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church in Belview.

Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the church and will continue one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment will be in the Belview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.  The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Leona “Suse” Zimmermann was born July 17, 1929 in Sacred Heart Township, Minnesota to Jesse and Alma (Hanson) Forkrud.  She was baptized on September 8, 1929 and confirmed on May 30, 1943 in Opdal Lutheran Church.  She attended country school and graduated from Renville High School in 1946.  On September 23, 1948 Leona was united in marriage to Donald Zimmermann in Olivia, Minnesota with Rev. Paul M. Kiefer officiating.  After marriage, Suse and Donald lived in Morgan before moving to Belview.  The couple moved back to Morgan once again while Donald worked construction.  In 1976, they again moved to Belview and Suse remained there until the time of her death.  Suse and her siblings ran the pool hall in Belview for several years.  She also was the bookkeeper for the family business – Zimmermann Maintenance. Suse was a part-time bartender, and was a seamstress for many years.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Belview, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  Suse enjoyed playing cards, knitting, and visiting with family and friends.

Suse is survived by her children: Marsha (Gordon) Blomeke of Belview, Vickie (Bob) Huhnerkoch of Belview, and Glen (Julie) Zimmermann of Renville; grandchildren: Hayley (Ian) Zimmerman-Slagter, Matthew (Becky) Huhnerkoch, Brian (Jessie) Huhnerkoch, Jeff (special friend Whitney) Huhnerkoch, Mitch, Mindi, and Mahlon Zimmermann; and great-grandson Henry Huhnerkoch.  She is also survived by her siblings: Vi Grafenstein of Willmar, Sis (Johnny) Enestvedt of Renville, Norman (Mavis) Forkrud of Alexandria, Gerald (Dorothy) Forkrud of Bloomington, Beverly (James) Ryan of Farmington; and a sister-in-law Audrey Forkrud of Sacred Heart.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald in 2005; son Gary in 2003; granddaughter Shauna Zimmermann; and two brothers, Donald “Bud” and James.
