Maybelle Marie Kline, age 91 of Morton passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6 at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Interment is in the Morton City Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Maybelle Marie Kline was born May 8, 1919 in Lydia, Minnesota to Frank H. and Lillian (Laffeen) Oldenburg.  She was baptized in Spring Lake Lutheran Church.  The family lived on a farm near Lydia for 3 years and then moved north of Hector on her grandparents’ farm where they lived until 1929.  They then moved to Hector and her father became a blacksmith.  In 1931 she moved to Franklin, where she was confirmed in 1933 and graduated from Franklin High School in 1938.  Maybelle married Melvin Kline on October 19, 1938 in Franklin.  Their first home was a little cabin north of Franklin until 1940 when they moved northwest of Morton.  In 1945 they moved to their present farm, where she raised 4 children and helped with the farming.  Maybelle was a member of Ladies Aid, being president for a number of years.  She worked with Dekalb Seed Co. in the  60’s, detasseling with many Morton kids and working in the plant in the fall.  In 1970 she started driving school bus until 1980 when she retired so that they could travel, which she enjoyed.  Maybelle also enjoyed gardening and fishing, and was a lover of her friends, family, kids and horses.

Maybelle is survived by her husband Melvin of 72-1/2 years; children: Roger (Elli) Kline of Bakersfield, CA, and Linda Mae (Tom) Serbus of Waconia; daughter-in-law Linda Kline of Danube; 9 grandchildren: Glenn (Karen) Kline, David Kline, Ursula Pesta, Josh (Karen) Kline, Melanie Kline, Meredith (Mike) Olson, Rebecca (Karl) Knoblauch, Sarah (John) Armstrong, and Chris (Amy) Serbus; 17 great grandchildren: Roy (Amy) Kline, Tabitha (Brandon) West, Hunter and Fisher Williams, Andrew, Alex, Jessica, and Jordan Kline, Allyssa Parker, Devon Olson, Peyton and Andi Lynn Knoblauch, Madison and Sammuel Armstrong, Neilie Njos Serbus, Brynna, and Torin Serbus; 4 great-great grandchildren: Madison, Austin, Kaitlyn, and Averie Kline; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, sons Marlin and Lee, daughter-in-law Donna Kline, and sister-in-law Helen (Walter) Martin.
