Floyd S. Kotval

Floyd S. Kotval, age 84 of Marshall, formerly of Vesta, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 16 at First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.  Interment is in the Vesta Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Floyd S. Kotval was born December 25, 1926 in Vesta Township to Frank and Iva (Anderson) Kotval.  He was baptized and confirmed at the Vesta Presbyterian Church.  Floyd graduated from Echo High School, furthered his education at Macalaster College, and completed post-graduate courses at the University of Minnesota.  He enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 and served during WWII.  On May 6, 1956 Floyd married Jeanette Hynie.  He loved his family, and enjoyed watching all of his grandchildren’s school events.  Floyd was an avid reader, enjoyed playing Bridge, golfing and bowling.  He was a member of Redwood Falls and Vesta Presbyterian Churches, Vesta American Legion, Commercial Club, 5 Star Foundation, and League of Postmasters.  He also served on the Vesta Cemetery Board and Vesta Elevator Board.

Floyd is survived by his wife Jeanette of 55 years; children: Chris (Lisa) of Andover, MN, Dan (Mary Lynn Schiltz) of Rochester, MN, and Katy (Dean) Busack of Vesta; grandchildren: Jason Busack, Andrew (Shannon) Kotval and their children Gabe, Micah, & Bennett, Sarah Kotval, and Bryan Busack; brother Leslie (Susie) Kotval of Colorado Springs, CO; and sister Joyce McKay of Redwood Falls; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.
