Linda Joanne Stolp age 52 of Milroy passed away surrounded by family and friends on Friday, February 22, 2013 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 26 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy.
Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the church with a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Interment is in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Linda was born March 26, 1960 in Granite Falls, Minnesota to James and Joanne (Wambeke) Matthys. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Linda graduated from Echo Wood Lake High School in 1978. On July 18, 1981 she was united in marriage to Jay Stolp at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. They resided on a farm near Milroy. Linda worked various jobs, most recently at the Milroy School where she was the head cook for 20 years before retiring due to her illness. She also helped out on the farm and worked at home raising her two children. Linda fought a courageous battle with cancer since being diagnosed in 2002. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she was a member of the CCW. Linda enjoyed sewing, collecting dolls and Indian artifacts, reading, cooking, and baking. She loved golfing, snowmobiling, gardening, and fishing. Linda also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and spending time with her friends.
Linda is survived by her husband Jay of 31 years; children Dustin Stolp and Tiffany (Cole) Guetter, both of Milroy; parents James and Joanne Matthys of Wood Lake; siblings: Brenda (Chris) Petersen of St. Cloud, FL, Lisa (Mark) Cuhel of Winsted, and Scott (Bonnie) Matthys of Wood Lake; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, uncle Donald Wambeke, and nephew Tyler.
