Janet “Janie” Singer, age 81 of Westbrook, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 while surrounded by her family at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook with a livestream available at Stephens Funeral Service Facebook Page. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 18 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Westbrook Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial is in Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rose Hill Township. 

Janet “Janie” Singer was born January 2, 1940 in Fulda, Minnesota to Roland and Florence (Cooley) Miller.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fulda, and she graduated from Fulda High School.  On February 8, 1959, Janie was united in marriage to Wayne Singer.  Together, the couple settled on Wayne’s family farm south of Westbrook.  Janie worked hard for her family as a farmer’s wife and mother. She was an expert tractor driver. Janie also worked at the egg plant and Wester’s Locker in Westbrook.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, bowling, and playing softball. Janie’s family and friends were most important in her life.

Janie is survived by her husband Wayne; children: Debbie (Al) Clement of Stewartville, MN, Gregg (Ruth Ann) Singer of Cannon Falls, Shari (Frank) Kmett of Rochester, Cindy (Cecil) Nissley of Washington, IA; grandchildren: Jess and Jani Trusty, Tony (Destiny) Wheeler, Carter Kmett, and Anthony, Nicolas, and Wayne Salinas; great-grandchildren: Jaden, Grace, Sophia, Grace, Will, Corina, and Cooper; siblings: Sandie (John) Melton, Joyce (Jerry) Wermersen, and Roland Jr. (Rena) Miller; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister Nancy.
